Brooklyn Bridge Welcomes 2024 with $2.4M Lighting Upgrade and Infrastructure Improvements

The iconic Brooklyn Bridge welcomed 2024 with improvements to its infrastructure, including the installation of new lighting.

The Department of Transportation was responsible for these upgrades to the 140-year-old bridge.

56 new lamps were installed on the bridge that will illuminate its iconic towers.

The lamps are LED, which allows better lighting and saves energy, reported Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodríguez.

The new lighting system cost $2.4 million and took 5 months to install.

It is expected to last about 20 years.

In 2024, a cleaning project in which a budget of 300 million dollars was invested will be completed.

Earth was removed from the stones of the bridge and the mortar between the classic structures was restored.
