The new coarsely sculpted artwork in Sevnica stands on a wooden plinth of almost 3 meters.
Donald Trump’s 50-year-old wife, a former fashion model, is, as with the wooden version, not recognizable. The depicted woman with her left hand raised takes an oath.
“This statue is dedicated to the eternal memory of a monument to Melania that stood on this site,” a placard reads.
Light blue wrap coat
The bronze statue is the successor to the wooden one on the same site, which was unveiled a year and a day earlier. It burned down on the night of July 4, American Independence Day.
The artist, Ales ‘Maxi’ Zupevc, wanted to highlight Melania Trump’s status as an immigrant married to a president who has vowed to reduce immigration. She was portrayed in the light blue wrap coat she wore when her husband was sworn in in 2017.

In January, an 8 meter high wooden statue of Donald Trump was set on fire elsewhere in Slovenia. This mockingly intended work of art was regarded as a tourist attraction.
At an earlier location, the statue had already been provided with a Hitler mustache. The designer said he believed the arson was a protest against the deadly US drone attack on Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
