JAKARTA – The appearance of a woman in the Bronze Age is revealed. This is obtained from the results of skull reconstructions and DNA remnants from Central European women who are estimated to have lived 4,000 years ago.
The researchers found that the female form of the Bronze Age had dark hair and white skin.
It is known that this young woman was among the wealthiest inhabitants of Bronze Age Bohemia.
The woman was buried with five bronze bracelets, two gold earrings and a three-strand necklace, more than 400 yellow beads, and three bronze sewing needles.
Researchers reveal he was part of the ntice culture, a group of people from the early Bronze Age of Central Europe known for their metal artifacts, including ax heads, daggers, bracelets and twisted metal necklaces called torcs.
Although it is not clear who the woman was, researchers believe she was extremely wealthy.
Archaeologist Michal Ernée of the Institute of Archeology of the Czech Republic’s Academy of Sciences says she is perhaps the richest female grave of the entire nětice cultural region.
The woman, lived between 1750 BC or 1880 BC, according to radiocarbon dating of the grave where her bones were found.
The grave, is near the village of Mikulovice in the north of the Czech Republic, near the Polish border.
This area and the surrounding area, are known as Bohemia because they were the kingdom with that name before World War I.
The 27 graves in the cemetery prove to be an incredible treasure trove of artifacts, including some 900 amber objects.
“We have amber in 40% of all female graves. There is more amber in this single grave than in all nětic graves in Germany. We have two neighboring regions of one archaeological culture, but the social systems may not be the same,” Ernée said.
It is said this Amber likely came from the Baltic, suggesting that the ntice people were part of a vast trading network in Europe at the time. Bronze objects were made by contemporary Europeans.
Ernée added that bronze objects were found all over the continent, but the raw materials for bronze, tin and copper only came from a few regions.
