NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is searching for two suspects after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the ankle outside a Dunkin Donuts in the Bronx on Monday.
Officials learned of the incident around 5:44 p.m. The teen was shot outside the Dunkin Donuts near the intersection of Grand Concourse and East 184th Street.
The bullet hit the teen in the left ankle and he then limped into a nearby apartment building seeking shelter. He received assistance from a building employee, who spoke with Telemundo 47 about the aftermath.
“When he entered the building he told me not to open the door because they were going to kill him,” said the building employee. “He was bleeding and I gave him a tourniquet.”
The shooting caused a window to break at the Dunkin Donuts, but no injuries were reported at the business.
According to police, the 16-year-old was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
The suspects were described as wearing light jackets and their whereabouts are unknown.
Police recovered 5 bullet casings from the place where the suspect shot, police sources confirmed to Telemundo 47.
