NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department launched an investigation Friday after a man was fatally stabbed over a noise complaint in the Bronx.
Police responded to a 911 call at around 1:44 a.m. that alerted them to the stabbing. The incident took place inside 808 Elsmere Place, in the Crotona section of the county.
Once on the scene, police officers found the victim, identified as 27-year-old Tyquan Pleasant, unconscious. He was stabbed in the back and found lying on the ground outside a second-floor apartment, according to authorities.
Emergency medical services transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police recovered a knife at the scene amid the ongoing investigation.
Officers arrested Shaun Pyles, 25, a woman who was taken into custody at the scene. She faces multiple charges including murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to data from New York City, more than 730,000 noise complaints were made in 2022 alone. The Bronx County tops the list with more than 240,000, followed by Manhattan with almost 185,000.
