A man with mental health problems from the Bronx who was fatally shot by police while holding his mother with a knife to her throat, he was called by his relatives as “The Hulk” for his brute strength, and He had three criminal cases open against him.

Dotel had history of mental illness and three arrests pending against him when officers confronted him at 11:20 a.m. in his family’s apartment on the 13th floor of Creston Avenue, officials and family members testified.
