The corner of a building in the Bronx collapsed in the middle of Monday afternoon, causing the astonishment of local residents and mobilizing dozens of firefighters and rescuers. “Miraculously, no one was seriously injured in the partial collapse of the building at 1915 Billingsley Terrace. Looking at the scene and the surveillance footage, we realize it could have been much worse,” said New York Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. Only two people were slightly injured.
The building, which dates from 1927, was under construction. In 2021, deterioration of its facade was noted, relate le New York Daily News. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact causes of the incident, New York Mayor Eric Adams announced on X.
