Bronx Assault: NYPD Captures Hispanic Suspect

NYPD captured a Hispanic suspect who tried to gouge out a man’s eyes in one of two consecutive unprovoked assaults in the Bronxthe authorities reported.

Officials detained Saturday Xavier Rodríguez, 29 years old, for two attacks. In addition, was accused of assaultnoted the New York Police Department (NYPD).

The suspect, who officials say is homeless, attacked two victims while walking on University Avenue in University Hightsthe agents explained.

The random attacks happened about half a block away. The first incident took place around 8:10 p.m., when Rodríguez approached a 49-year-old mandeclared NYPD.

He advanced towards his first victim from behind, The Hispanic man threw him to the cement, turned him towards him, sat on his chest and began to press his thumbs on the man’s eyes.

After a brief struggle, Rodríguez fled down the streetwhere a few minutes later, He allegedly jumped on a 52-year-old woman, cutting her across the forehead with a knife.

The Hispanic man ran north along University Avenue toward Fordham Road, police said.

Both victims They were taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where they received treatment for minor injuries.reported Daily News.

Rodríguez’s criminal record includes 20 arrests between 2015 and 2018, including at least five arrests for assault. Other arrests were made on charges of robbery, criminal contempt and reckless endangerment.
