Again, it was the actions of Breece Hall and Sauce Gardner that allowed the Jets to win.
Denver Broncos (2-5) – New York Jets (5-2): 9-16
For several weeks, we’ve been hearing a huge progression from the New York franchise. A revival symbolized by this class of rookie and in particular by the players selected at the top of this draft: Breece Hall and Sauce Gardner. Also this Sunday running back and corner took to the limelight with a decisive action. The former scores the only touchdown of the Jets game on a 62-yard run, while the latter defends himself perfectly on a 4th attempt with 2 minutes left that could have put Denver in the lead.
Two class actions therefore at the center of a match closed with a padlock. Beyond their two rookies, Robert Saleh’s men were the strongest against Brett Rypien (24/46, 225 yards and 1 TD). Sure, Zach Wilson’s attack (16/26 and 121 yards) didn’t impress much, but the Jets know how to win otherwise and they’ve proven it.
Breece Hall, later injured goal scorer
As we imagined, the start of the match was smooth. Very calm. And with more punt (4) than first down (1) on the first four possessions, we tell ourselves the game will be long. Very long. A cannon shot will still awaken spectators and viewers. As it is becoming a habit, the runner, Breece Hall, will unlock the situation. A 62-yard run full of intelligence and speed that allows him to reach the end zone for the first (and last) time of play (7-0). Unfortunately, the running back will have to leave his teammates a little later in the game, hit in the knee.
Shocked by this touchdown, even the Broncos end up coming out of their torpor. In the process, the locals respond to their opponents. This time the drive is longer (13 games), but the result is the same: a touchdown. Latavius Murray plans to put everyone on par with this 2-yard race, but Brandon McManus will miss the Extra-Point. From then on, this match will become an exciting story.
Gardner pochette of salsa
In all, the Denver kicker will score a field goal but mostly leave 4 points on the side of the road. Greg Zuerlein, his counterpart with the Jets, never misses an opportunity to create a gap and has succeeded in his three attempts (9-16). For the rest, it is above all the defenses that have the place of honor. On the one hand as on the other, nothing is left to the opponent. Zach Wilson and Brett Rypien find no solutions. The Denver pitcher will even be intercepted following strong pressure from the Jets.
To the Jets no loss of ball, but a lot of penalty handkerchiefs that prevent them from undertaking things in this match. They will therefore content themselves with being solid until the last moments. Like Gardner sauce. The cornerback will be decisive on the 4th attempt with less than 3 minutes to go. He managed to deflect a passage that sped directly into the arms of a Courtland Sutton already in the end zone. A clutch action for Gardner that allows the Jets to win.
New York now has a four-game winning streak and is starting to put pressure on all of its division rivals. For Denver, however, the start of the season is still just as complicated.
