Bron: sound radars in experimentation

A world first. This Tuesday, January 4, France is experimenting with sound radars responsible for reporting drivers whose vehicle is too noisy. Eight cities were chosen to serve as a laboratory for this new device, including that of Bron.

The sound radar, which mainly targets motorcycles, should make it possible to verbalize too noisy cars. Three radars from three different manufacturers will be installed side by side on sections of urban roads limited to 50 km / h. They will be able to measure the sound level emitted by vehicles in real time.

No fines are planned for this test phase but the first fines could fall before the end of 2022, in particular if the owners modify the factory parameters of their vehicles, with a fine of 135 euros for the offenders.
