The Charlotte Hornets forward, LaMelo Ball, could miss the rest of the season with a broken right wrist, a source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Hornets announced Sunday night that Ball underwent an MRI and an initial diagnosis revealed a broken bone in his wrist. The team said Ball would be “listed as inactive indefinitely” and that additional updates would be provided when available.
Ball, considered a favorite for the NBA’s rookie of the year, is seeking a second opinion to confirm the diagnosis, a source told Wojnarowski.
Ball, 19, appeared to be injured in a fall early in the game in Saturday night’s 125-98 loss to the LA Clippers. He played extensively in the second half despite clearly struggling with wrist discomfort, and finished with 13 points.
Ball, the younger brother of the New Orleans Pelicans guard, Lonzo Ball, is averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists on the season.
