Brno is the historical capital of Moravia. Michał Cessanis talked about what is worth seeing there in the series “See you later…” Dzień Dobry TVN.

Brno – tourist attractions

Michał Cessanis started his tour of Brno from… Targu Kapuścianego (Vegetable Market).

– There are historic tenement houses around, the Museum of the Moravian Land and a beautiful baroque fountain – said the journalist, admiring the city.

Then he went to see elegant villas built in the 19th and 20th centuries.

– Look around, Michał. We are in a beautiful place Tugendhat villa in Brno. This is an example of the pinnacle of modernism. The villa is unique due to, among others: construction. It was designed almost 100 years ago by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a very famous German architect – explained guide Nela Škrabalová in a conversation with a traveler.

Old Town Hall, Freedom Square, Moravian Square – sightseeing in Brno

The next points of Michał Cessanis’ trip were: hanging crocodile, or Brno dragonand and unusual, astronomical clock.

– This city clock is one of such symbols of the modern city of Brno. What is very interesting is that it strikes noon, but not at 12, but at 11 – said resident Filip Halvinka.

According to legend, when Brno was besieged by the Swedes in the 17th century, they decided that if they did not breach the city walls before the clock struck noon, they would abandon it. The inhabitants found out about this plan and cleverly struck 12 an hour earlier and saved themselves.
