We visited Brno’s Couple’s Foodtruck, which is a well-known place not only for local “burgrozhrouty”. Tony and Šárka, who run it, not only know how to prepare a really tasty dlabanec, but also have an impressive story behind them.
In the beginning, there was a dream and a food truck for 10 thousand crowns. Several years and hundreds of thousands of crowns invested later, z Couple’s Foodtrucku one of the best burger restaurants in Brno. We couldn’t resist his lure either, and we visited Tony and Šárka, who run the food truck together. And in addition to having a royal meal, we also talked with them about how they actually got into this joint business.

They turned the dream of cooking into reality
“I always knew I was going to do this – something for myself in the kitchen. But I didn’t know what it would be. After school, I got a job where they told me I would work in the kitchen for 12 thousand. But I didn’t want to work like that. Even though I like this job, it’s not enough for that kind of money,” describes Tony.
“Through delivering parcels and taxi fares, I then got to the point where my friend and I took a smaller restaurant for one season. But there I discovered that I have to do it alone or with someone who has the same vision as me. When two people do it and everyone wants to do it differently, it can never work,” he explained.
Thanks to his partner, Tony finally learned about the possibility of buying a food truck for really irresistible money. “One beautiful event came when a woman sent me an ad saying that her friend’s mom was selling a food truck for 10,000. I thought that was stupid and that she probably signed up for zero. So we took a mechanic friend and went to have a look.’

When they then saw the stand offered, they understood what they were in for. “It was crazy. Pieces of sheet metal were falling from it, there was a twenty-centimeter hole in the tank… And there was equipment in it that would have cost the 10 thousand – there was a fryer, bombs and a rusty cash register. We actually paid the 10,000 for that and we had the car for free,” they both laugh today looking back at the condition the food truck was in originally. “After that, we put it together for two years and today it looks completely different again. But that was the impulse when I knew I wanted to do it and I didn’t care where it was,” adds Tony.
