The wacky competition, launched three years ago, survived the Covid-19, unlike the Christmas market (which has become one of the largest in Morbihan with 17,000 visitors) which was to be held this weekend.
In view of the circumstances, it had to be canceled. However, there is no question of sinking into gloom. “We decided to keep the competition going because we have never needed so much fun. And this competition is a good remedy to find a little good humor. “
A category “Christmask”
Due to the lack of being able to organize the traditional parades under the Ritz Brothers circus tent during the Christmas market, the competition will take place only on the internet this year, from November 27 to December 18. “A group“ Contest for the most beautiful ugly Christmas sweater in Brittany ”has been opened on Facebook. To participate, all you have to do is join it and post a photo with a short presentation text. “
Seven categories have been defined: shopkeepers, families, work colleagues (video group photos are accepted), children, handmade productions, animals… And the seventh category called “Christmask”, inspired by Christmas, English translation of Christmas, is a little piece of news that will remain ephemeral, “We hope so”… It’s about electing the most beautiful ugly Christmas mask. With balls, garlands, rhinestones … “Everything is allowed, within the limits of decency of course, as long as it puts glitter in our lives …”
In the starting blocks
The winners will be those who receive the most “Likes” on Facebook. “It will therefore be necessary to share photos as much as possible and mobilize friends, tatas, uncles, dogs, cats, chickens”, have fun the parents of students in the competition rules.
The organizers of the Christmas market, “Brought together within a jury of specialists”, will also have their say. Their votes will be added to those of social networks. No doubt, the suspense will be total until the end!
The lucky winners of this edition will receive rewards “Nicely ugly”, prestigious titles… And the icing on the cake, one of them, selected by the jury, will qualify directly for the final of the Albi Ugly Sweater World Championship, which this year is also being organized virtually.
The winners of previous editions are already in the starting blocks. Two of them, Jean-Michel and Valérie, who live in Finistère, even decided to post their respective creation on the same day at the same time so that neither of them is at a disadvantage compared to the other. … We don’t laugh with the ugly sweater.
