Britt Van Namen Transforms Existing Home into Timeless Contemporary Space in Oud-Turnhout

Britt Van Namen is one of the best interior architects for those who want a timeless home that at the same time exudes a contemporary aesthetic. She redirected the ground floor of an existing home in a residential area in Oud-Turnhout. Instead of starting with a blank canvas, she took into account the current situation and what options it offered for the new look the customers had.

Balance is an ongoing priority for Britt Van Namen and her team. By always carefully weighing all the elements against each other, she spins a lofty atmosphere that renews itself every day. The residents of this promising town had decided to rethink their basement. The kitchen and adjoining utility room were very important. They needed to be open and larger and thus transformed into an attractive kitchen. The interior architect freed up space and brought part of the utility room into the cupboard wall through a blind door. The islands are fitted with ceramic worktops and a thick edge in a micro-top. The two complement each other smoothly and set the tone for a clean look that still has warmth. In general, the choice of material and color is characterized by light shades and attractive harmony. Gray-brown veneer with delicate lines introduces a subtle contrast, without throwing everything out of balance. At first there was a cast floor, but from now on it will be covered with a new one in microtopping. For coherence, the color of the floor and ceramic worktops are the same. An understandable choice, since the feeling of sand-lime bricks successfully dominates the whole concept. As a nice detail, the custom-made wine cabinet has a glass door.

In addition to the kitchen, the dining room also needed some changes. The floor was treated again and a detailed paint job was done. The existing built-in cabinets have been retained, although their new look makes them look new. Due to the short distance between the dining table and the kitchen islands, the two functions are closely linked. As the heart of the house, the place has a vibrancy that always encourages communication between family members and potential guests. The selected furniture is a good complement to the mentioned materials and colors. It’s amazing that the table has an asymmetrical shape and thus helps to prevent design choices from being predictable. Van Namen added several bar stools next to the dining room chairs and the utility room has space reserved for a built-in desk with a coffee corner. As much equipment was removed from the scene, so that there was calmness and peace of mind. Even the sockets are included underground and do not disturb the visual picture at all. To enhance the spatial feeling, the large window near the table lets in a lot of light. With the help of matching curtains, residents can diffuse the sun’s rays to a pleasant saturation. Britt Van Namen left her contemporary class behind on the ground floor of an inviting city. The light, warm continuous styling options highlight her beauty and were a great addition to the existing design. It is clear that a new chapter has begun for the residents, so we wish them much enjoyment from their lovely basement. Picture with Caffeine
