American singer Britney Spears released the first preview of her memoir, The Woman in Me (The Woman in Me), this week, where she made several scandalous revelations, the first being that she had an abortion when she was the girlfriend of singer Justin Timberlake.
According to the fragment released by the magazine Peoplethe event would have happened more than 20 years ago, when Britney and Timberlake, then a member of the group NSYNC, were in a relationship.
In her writing, the ‘Princess of Pop’ reveals that she did not want to undergo the procedure, but found no other way out after her boyfriend stated that he would not support her during the pregnancy or having the baby.
“If it had been up to me alone, I would never have done it (…) And yet, Justin was so sure he didn’t want to be a father,” he wrote.
“It was a surprise, but for me it was not a tragedy,” Spears wrote about the pregnancy in the extract, stating that she did want to start a family with Timberlake, only that everything happened sooner than expected.
“But Justin was definitely not happy about the pregnancy. “He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were too young,” he wrote.
Although at the moment it is not clear when the pregnancy occurred, at any time both would have been too young, since the couple began their courtship in the late 90s and separated in 2002, when Spears was only between 17 and 21 years old.
After the fragment was released, representatives of Britney Spears refused to make further comments, while Timberlake’s team refused to respond to requests made by different media, including the aforementioned magazine.
