Britney Spears has won her custody battle. A Los Angeles court rules that she can choose her own lawyer. Spears had given an emotional speech just like a few weeks ago.
The 39-year-old pop star now has former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart as her lawyer. The hearing followed three weeks after Spears first appeared in court had addressed. “Set me free, let me dispose of my life,” she said at the time.
Spears’ curatorship came about after the singer suffered a public breakdown in 2008. The 39-year-old star has been under her father’s tutelage ever since, leaving her with no control over her finances, her property, or other aspects of her life.
Spears said he felt like a slave to the people around her. She said she was forced to take medication and also has an IUD against her will. “I was told that within the conservatorship I am not allowed to marry or have a child.” Spears has indicated that she would like to have a child.
Outside the court in Los Angeles, many fans of Spears had again gathered to show their support.
