Britney, Lady Gaga and Eminem banned in China – 2024-10-01 20:18:58

The extreme measures have been imposed as the ministers are of the opinion that the content in their songs is inappropriate and vulgar.

China’s Ministry of Culture has banned some of the most popular artists in pop music. More than 100 songs are on the authority’s “blacklist”, which must not be broadcast or appear on legal and illegal sites. The extreme measures have been imposed because ministers believe the content is inappropriate and vulgar.

By September 15, from hundreds of Chinese Internet sites, “The Edge of Glory,” “Hair,” “Marry the Night,” “Americano,” “Judas” and Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” are to be pulled. Katy’s song Perry’s “Last Friday Night” also makes the list because of the alcoholic themes in it. Surprisingly, the Backstreet Boys and their “I Want it That Way” are among the banned tracks, as well as Britney Spears’ hit “Burning Up”.

More recently, the names of Eminem, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones have been added.
