Rear Admiral Edward Ahlgren said that the cause of the accident is being investigated. The officers had the best training and the best facilities on board. However, he clarified that the possibility of malfunctions cannot be ruled out.
The collision involved vessels bound for the Middle East to provide security for commercial vessels. The British military has stepped up its presence at sea and has begun providing more security to cargo ships after the attack by the Houthi rebels intensified. In more than a dozen places, the British army also carried out bombardment with the US army.
