British transport minister: ‘Act normally, only refuel when necessary’

The British Transport Secretary has urged the British to act normally when refueling. Grant Shapps responded this morning to the images of queues at gas stations in various parts of the country. “There is no shortage of fuel,” he assured.

“The most important thing is that people just do what they always do and only fill their tanks when they have to. Then you don’t get queues and there is no shortage of the pump,” Shapps said.

The good news, he says, is that people can’t keep hoarding gasoline because their tanks are full. “That’s the difference with the toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic,” he said against the BBC. “It is less easy to store fuel.”

Panic

Bee Sky News he put the responsibility for the queues in the transport industry, which would have caused panic. “People react to that, of course, they start to worry.”
