According to British intelligence, Russia’s recent withdrawal from west of Kherson was carried out in relatively good order compared to previous major Russian retreats. They write it in the report on Sunday morning.
They point out that the loss of vehicles was probably in the tens, rather than hundreds, and that much of what was left was successfully destroyed by Russia so that Ukraine would not need them.
– Being divided
– This relative success is probably partly due to a more effective single operational command under General Sergei Surovikin. However, the forces are divided by poor leadership at the junior and middle management levels.
Intelligence indicates that two companies from the Eastern Military District have fled in the past two months after their leader was killed.
– Other officers probably lied about it in an attempt to cover up the incident.
It was last week that the Russians began their withdrawal from Kherson. The city has been occupied since the beginning of March, but after eight months, Ukrainian forces managed to recapture the strategically important and iconic city.
Critical infrastructure destroyed
According to NTB, as many as 30,000 Russian soldiers have withdrawn from the city of Kherson and other places on the western bank of the Dnipro River.
Before they came out, they would have to destroy all critical infrastructure, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
He claims that Russia has deliberately destroyed all electricity, communication possibilities, the Internet and television.
Ukraine’s state-owned grid company also says Russia destroyed a vital power plant in Kherson before its retreat.
