The British royal family has released the first official photo of Princess Kate after her abdominal surgery. Kate’s complete withdrawal from public life previously sparked wild rumors and conspiracy theories.
Kate Middleton, Britain’s Princess of Wales, in her first public post since undergoing abdominal surgery in January, thanked the public for their support on Sunday and posted a photo of herself with her three children.
In the photo, Kate (42) can be seen smiling, surrounded by Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the past two months,” Kate wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day.” Sunday is Mother’s Day in Great Britain. The photo was taken earlier this week in Windsor where the family lives, her office at Kensington Palace said.

Kate spent two weeks in hospital in January after an unspecified abdominal operation. She has not been seen in public since. Kensington Palace said she is unlikely to resume her official duties until after Easter.

Her withdrawal from public life led to wild rumors and conspiracy theories. “Not a single Banksy has appeared since Kate disappeared. Coincidence?” wrote one Twitter user. “Maybe she cut her own bangs and is now waiting for them to grow out,” someone else wrote. In the depths of Tiktok it was even claimed that she is possessed by Satan, is in a relationship with actor Pete Davidson, or that the princess has died, and that the royal family is urgently looking for a double to replace her.
Her office reiterated earlier this month that it would only provide “important updates” on her recovery.
