“The Queen wants to share this private photo taken with the Duke of Edinburgh (her husband Philip – Ed.) At the Coyles of Muick Summit in Scotland in 2003.” – wrote the British royal family on Friday night on Twitter. Prince Philip’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
Prince Philip as consort of Queen Elizabeth II has the right to a state funeral, but it is known that it will not take place. The deceased was to have his own recommendations regarding the farewell ceremony. The organization of any ceremony during a pandemic is also associated with significant restrictions.
As reported, the funeral will take place on Saturday April 17 at 15 and will be limited entirely to Windsor Castle. Due to epidemic restrictions, only 30 people will take part in it.
The Queen, her children and grandchildren will take part in the ceremony. Prince Harry confirmed his presence, announcing that he would appear without his wife Meghan Markle, whose doctor, due to her pregnancy, had advised against attending the funeral.
As stated, members of the royal family will follow the coffin, with the exception of the queen who will go to the chapel of St. George at Windsor Castle separately.
The solemn procession is to last only eight minutes. The coffin will be decorated with a princely banner, with a wreath, sailor’s cap and a sword on top.
At the chapel, funeral attendees will be greeted by the Dean of Windsor and the Archbishop of Canterbury. Neither they nor the eight people carrying the coffin are included in the funeral.
The ceremony will be preceded by a minute’s silence across the country and will be broadcast on television. It is intended to commemorate the Prince’s “immense contribution and enduring legacy”.
Prince Philip is dead. Silhouette of Queen Elizabeth’s spouse
Filip Mountbatten came from the Danish royal family of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. He was born in Greece on June 10, 1921, from where, when he becomes a child, his family will be expelled. Philip’s father was Andrzej, the prince of Greece and Denmark – the son of King George I of Greece (1845-1913), murdered in Thessaloniki. Andrzej himself will leave Greece with his six-year-old son Filip and three daughters in 1917 – after the revolution on September 11. Philip’s father will divorce his mother, Princess Alicja Battenberg, suffering from schizophrenia, which will not be well received among the aristocracy.
As a child, Filip will spend the next years at Saint-Cloud in France and at school in Paris. He will also attend schools in Germany, England and Scotland, where he will graduate, among others the German Schule Schloss Salem, or Gordonstoun in Scotland. 1937 will bring the tragic death of Filip’s sister. Duchess Cecylia dies in an air accident with her family – her husband and two children.
