British Princess Beatrice gave birth to a daughter

Princess Beatrice, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, gave birth to her first child, a girl, on Saturday. Buckingham Palace announced this on Monday. Beatrice married Italian Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a private ceremony last year.

The girl was safely born at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and weighs 2.78 kg. Beatrice is tenth in line to the throne and is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York. The baby is the twelfth great-grandchild for the 95-year-old Queen.

“The baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have been notified and are all delighted. The family would like to thank the hospital staff for the good care,” the couple said on Instagram.

Her Royal Highness and her child are doing well and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf. Mozzi already had a son from a previous relationship. He is an Italian real estate magnate and businessman. Both families have known each other for years. Beatrice got to know Mozzi better at her sister Eugenie’s wedding.

The birth comes after a difficult period for Prince Andrew’s family. His ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein forced him to relinquish his royal duties.

Wedding postponed

Princess Beatrice had to postpone her wedding more than once because of the corona pandemic, but was allowed rummage through her grandmother’s wardrobe for her big day. She wore a vintage Norman Hartnell dress and the Queen Mary tiara, both owned by the Queen. She also wore the tiara herself on her wedding day in 1947.
