Britain’s Prince Andrew wants to sell his chalet in Switzerland as soon as possible to pay his rapidly mounting legal costs in the child abuse case. That reports The Mirror. Queen Elizabeth would not want to cough up the bill for the lawsuit against her son.

Andrew is being sued in the United States by Virginia Giuffre, the woman who claims the prince abused her three times when she was a minor, and was in the clutches of Jeffrey Epstein. The man denies the allegations, and is trying to end the lawsuit as soon as possible: he claims that Giuffre waived her right to sue him when she reached a settlement with Epstein in another lawsuit. A ruling is expected on Friday.

If the lawsuit goes through, Andrew risks having to pay damages that experts say could run into the millions if convicted. In addition, the costs for lawyers and other legal experts are also rising sharply. To the extent that the prince would be in need of money.

Andrew could also consider a deal with Giuffre, but in that case too he would have to cough up the compensation himself. “There is no question of the Queen helping him with that,” said a source. “Other royals like Prince Charles and Prince William were furious when it was suggested that the Queen pay. They both think Andrew should clean up his own mess.”

The prince would therefore consider selling his Swiss chalet in the ski resort of Verbier – worth about 20 million euros – “as soon as possible”.
