British press warns citizens about new rules for Spanish airports

And New mandatory change is coming to all Spanish airports and, in light of the information that is emerging about its imminent entry into force, a certain amount of surprise has been generated among a very special group of travellers about the step taken by their country in the past. This is the Post-Brexit United Kingdom and a change made within the European Union.

This change directly affects one of the most annoying and annoying moments – and necessary in terms of security – during the use of airport facilities, the personal and luggage control. On this occasion, what has caught the British off guard has nothing to do with the documentation to be shown but with an issue that had already been changing and returns to its previous format.

And it’s all about formats because what will change from now on next September 1st of this 2024 is the capacity of containers to carry liquids in the suitcase. It goes back down to a limit of 100 milliliters (ml). And that has generated different warnings and alerts such as the one collected by the British Daily Bulletin.

Why return to the previous format?

The key to change is that, since some yearsdifferent airports have implemented the so-called C3 scannerswhich until now allowed passengers to carry liquids without any restrictions and store them along with their large electronic devices in their hand luggage at security checkpoints.

The New EU restriction reintroduces the 100 ml limitation for individual containers of liquids, thus eliminating the main benefit that passengers obtained from the C3 scannersThe reason for this step back is that the EU considers that these scanners, despite their advanced technology, cannot effectively detect liquid explosives.

Hence, once again, liquids can only be introduced into containers that do not exceed 100 ml, with Exceptions for baby products and medicinesIn Spain, according to AENA guidelines, this limit was maintained despite the presence of these scanners.
