Actor and comedian Russell Brand was questioned by London Metropolitan Police detectives over allegations of sexual crimes committed in the past, the Times reported on Sunday.
British police said in September that they had launched an investigation into a series of allegations of non-recent sexual offences. following information that appeared in the media according to which several Women had accused Brand of a series of sexual assaults.
Earlier that month, the Sunday Times newspaper and Channel 4 TV’s documentary program “Dispatches” reported that Four women had accused Brand, 48, of sexual crimes, including rape, between 2006 and 2013.
Brand has rejected what he described as “very serious allegations”stating on his social media channels that he has never had non-consensual sexual relations.
Representatives for Brand did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Sunday’s report.
“A man in his 40s attended a south London police station on Thursday 16 November 2023.“, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement, declining to confirm whether it was Brand.
“He was interviewed on bail by detectives in relation to three non-recent sexual offences. Investigations continue,” the police added.
