London. The president of the British Olympic Committee, Andy Anson, expressed his “concern” about security at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, planned with a river parade along the Seine.

“I am clearly concerned,” Anson said in an interview broadcast this Wednesday on the British network Sky News.
“It is one of the most important things we must manage regarding risks,” he added.
With a parade of athletes through the heart of the French capital, the organizers of Paris-2024 intend to hold the first opening ceremony of a Games outside a sports venue, which raises security concerns.
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke for the first time on Monday about the possibility of finally organizing the opening ceremony at the Stade de France or at the Trocadero, in front of the Eiffel Tower.
“We would be naïve if we didn’t think” about alternative plans, Anson said. “Our absolute priority is to guarantee the safety of all our athletes, their loved ones and our fans,” he added.
According to the president of the British Olympic Committee, the event on the Seine carries “a high risk and must be managed accordingly, but the French are very, very aware” of this.
