The Conservative Party of the United Kingdom reported this Thursday that it separated from its ranks a deputy who affirmed that the vaccination process against COVID-19 is “the greatest crime against humanity since the Holocaust. Misinformation about the vaccine causes damage and costs lives; Thus, removed Andrew Bridgen from party discipline with immediate effect, pending formal investigation”, said the head of the Conservative caucus, Simon Hart.
In Hart’s view, Bridgen’s opinion “crossed a line” of offense in a way that none of his frequent criticisms of vaccination had. “We should be proud of what was achieved” in terms of combating the coronavirus, Hart stressed, according to the Europa Press news agency.
After the decision of the Conservative Party, Bridgen became an independent legislator in the House of Commons, according to what was reported by the British television station Sky News.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, also expressed his “round condemnation and in the strongest terms” of Bridgen’s statement and considered that “it is unacceptable to establish such links and use such language.” Sunak remarked that he was “determined to eradicate the scourge of anti-Semitism”, which has “absolutely no place” in British society. “I know that the past few years were challenging for the Jewish community and I don’t want it to go through something like that again,” he added.
The vaccine works against depression
Contrary to what was stated by the conservative Andrew Bridgen, a study carried out in Argentina ensures that “vaccination against the coronavirus is associated with a decrease in depressive symptoms”. This work studied the levels of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and depression throughout the first and second wave of infections.
The objective of the scientists was to analyze the impact of vaccines, physical activity and work modality, under the hypothesis that they could act as possible protective factors for the mental health of the population after such a long period of pandemic. The research was published in the Frontiers in Psychiatry Journal.
Andrew Bridgen is a Member of Parliament representing North West Leicestershire. He is 58 years old and a fervent supporter of Conservative ideas, playing a key role in removing Conservatives such as David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Liz Truss from the post of Prime Minister. He now sits on his bench as “independent.”
