Brits spent 10.7% more on the cost of living in November than in the same month a year earlier. This means that UK inflation remains at a historically high level, although the pain has been slightly less than in October. According to the British Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt, this requires strong measures.
In October, inflation in the United Kingdom (UK) was still 11.1%, the highest level in 41 years. Minister Hunt warned on Wednesday after the publication of the Numbers by the ONS statistics office that strong measures are needed to deal with high inflation.
“I know times are already tough for many, but it’s vital we make firm decisions now to reduce inflation,” Hunt said. He calls inflation “the biggest enemy that makes everyone poorer.”
“If we make the wrong choices now, prices will stay high and millions of people will feel the pain for even longer.”
