British minister goes wild in nightclub, singer doesn’t like it

Remarkable images have surfaced of British Cabinet Secretary Michael Gove in a nightclub in Aberdeen. At 2 a.m. he shows his best dance moves and goes all out, two months after his divorce. In Good morning Britain a singer says it shouldn’t: “Leave the nightclubs to us, the youngsters.”

Michael Gove does not have the image of being the biggest bonkers of the British government, which surprised many people when some in attendance filmed Boris Johnson’s Cabinet Secretary performing his best dance moves in an Aberdeen nightclub at 2am.

It also led to an animated discussion in the morning program on Tuesday Good morning Britain. Among other things, it was about the idea, which has often been suggested, to deny people over 40 access to discotheques. An excellent idea, says 22-year-old singer Tallia. “Older people should leave clubbing to us, the younger ones,” she said. “I am 22 years old and I don’t want to see my father and his friends or even my grandfather in the club. I just don’t know what young people have in common with them. Do they know the hits of the moment? Clubs with a low entrance fee and cheap shots, leave those for us, the youngsters. They have many more options for going out in the evening.”

She was opposed by Tony Blackburn, a 78-year-old DJ who encourages older people to remain welcome in clubs. “Michael Gove was clearly having a good time. I don’t see why you shouldn’t be allowed to go to a club over 40, that’s just ridiculous.”
