MOSCOW – Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin, two British nationals who surrendered to Russian troops in Ukraine, made an appeal to British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson.

The two enlisted Johnson’s help in swapping them for Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk.

The opposition Platform For Life politician Viktor Medvedchuk was detained by Ukrainian security forces on Tuesday. On Saturday, his wife appealed to the families of two suspected British mercenaries captured by Russian forces, asking them to ask the British government for help in swapping them for their husbands.

“Hi Mr Boris Johnson. Obviously, I am Shaun Pinner. A lot has happened over the last five or six weeks that I am not fully aware of. Obviously, I understand that Mr Medvedchuk has been detained, and we are looking to swap myself and Aiden Aslin for Mr. Medvedchuk. Obviously I would really appreciate your help in this matter.”
