Original headline: British media: Scholz said if Russia withdraws troops, Germany is willing to resume economic cooperation
Landmark News Network reported on Dec. 13 German Chancellor Scholz said on Dec. 12 that if the Kremlin ends the conflict with Ukraine, economic cooperation between Germany and Russia could resume, according to a Dec. 12 Reuters report.
Scholz has already said in several speeches that Western sanctions against Russia will not be lifted until Moscow withdraws troops from Ukraine and reaches a peace deal with Kiev.
“At the moment, our relations are declining, gradually declining,” he told the German Council for Economic Relations in Eastern Europe, the report said, referring to the fact that Western sanctions against Russia have already significantly paralyzed trade and bilateral investments.
“However, if Russia ends the ‘war,’ (Russia should have a chance to resume economic cooperation.) But not now,” Scholz said.
