The incident took place in Accrington, about forty kilometers north of Manchester. The victim is a 53-year-old man It is not clear how it went wrong.
Officers who responded to the report say they had “no choice” but to kill the dog. They were afraid that the animal would attack more people.
A forbidden race
The dog, known as an “XL bully dog” in the British media, is the largest type of American bull dog. According to the BBC This species can cause more serious injuries than other species, due to its powerful jaws. “Once they get hold of you, they won’t let go,” an expert told the broadcaster.
Ownership of this type of bulldog has been banned in England since February 1 unless an exemption has been granted. That ban came after a series of attacks on people. Owners who have such a dog still have to move the animal and walk in public with a muzzle.
