Two British lords went to a party with the Russian ambassador and publicly humiliated Ukraine there – The Guardian
Members of the British Parliament – Lord Balfe and Lord Skidelsky – appeared at a party of Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin at his estate in west London. At an event in honor of the independence of the Russian Federation, they publicly humiliated Ukraine, calling it a “disorderly” state, and also shared their distorted vision of the outcome of the war.
This publication reported The Guardian. In particular, it is noted that Lord Balfe, speaking with the Russian attache, said that the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine would allegedly be an agreement that would be reached through negotiations and within which Ukraine, according to him, would cede part of the territory to Russia.
Also, the British lord shared his “knowledge” of history and gave out, they say, our state was “collected” by someone. He called Russia’s legitimate claims to the Ukrainian Donbass, and Crimea – definitely Russian.
“Ukraine is, frankly, a messy country. It was brought together by Churchill and Stalin at the end of World War II,” the lord issued.
“Crimea is, of course, Russian, and Russia’s claims to Donetsk and Lugansk are legitimate. Negotiations are possible only along the land corridor to Crimea,” he said.
Another representative of the British Parliament, Lord Skidelsky, for his part, confirmed his participation in the event, saying that he was against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but by his presence at a party organized by the Russian ambassador, “wanted to show his respect and commitment to the Russian people at their national level”.
During the event, Kelin himself tried to justify the bloody invasion of the terrorist state into Ukraine. He stated that “for normal development, Russia must first cope with significant threats to its security.” The ambassador also accused the UK of “great strategic miscalculation” by taking a confrontational approach to Moscow.
As noted by the publication, Balfe is a former member of the European Parliament from the Labor Party, who defected to the Conservatives in 2002 and has repeatedly made statements in favor of Russia. During the 2018 Fiddler poisoning scandal, Balfe echoed Russia’s calls to test the used nerve agent.
Skidelsky is an economist and member of the cross lava who was a member of the Conservatives, Labor and the SDP. He was also a non-executive director of the Russian oil company RussNeft between 2016 and 2021 and wrote a letter shortly after Moscow’s invasion condemning the move but also asking why the West had not made a promise that NATO would not expand into Ukraine.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL:
– British military analyst Sean Bell said that the key challenge for the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive will be the effectiveness of Russian aviation at the front. Now it has become significantly more active, while Ukraine cannot boast of such an advantage;
– at the same time, Britain is not against the idea of accelerated accession of Ukraine to NATO. Foreign Minister of the country James Cleverley said that London could support a simplified procedure for admission to the Alliance for Kyiv, following the example of Sweden and Finland.
