24 volunteers will receive two common sources of coronavirus

HEALTH – Volunteers to advance science. While the number of detected cases of coronavirus now exceeds 110,000 people worldwide, dozens of laboratories are currently working on vaccines, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). This is particularly the case for a laboratory owned by Hvivo, at the Queen Mary BioEnterprises Innovation Center in east London.

As reported by several British media, including The Times, the company is looking for 24 volunteers to inject them with strains 0C43 and 229E of the large coronavirus family. Less violent than the current disease, these two strains reproduce in particular the respiratory symptoms of the coronavirus. The key for the brave, the pretty sum of 3500 pounds sterling, or about 4000 euros.

In addition to accepting the contamination, the guinea pigs must remain in quarantine for 14 days, without the possibility of physical contact. Their diet will be closely monitored as will their health.

These patients will also receive several treatments in order to assess their effectiveness in the face of the current epidemic and subsequently develop a vaccine. The slightest infected object will be collected and studied and medical personnel will also be subject to drastic precautions.

However, the experiment will have to wait for authorization from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, the regulatory authority, before it can launch its tests. Currently, the UK has more than 300 cases of coronavirus detected.
