Like other royal heads of state, British King Charles also gives a Christmas speech every year. This year the speech comes with a scoop: for the first time, a real Christmas tree will be on display. It is in line with the importance that Charles attaches to the environment and climate.
And that real Christmas tree is not the only thing that points to this. The tree is decorated with natural and sustainable elements, materials and/or colors: pendants made of wood and folded paper, glass Christmas balls in brown, yellow and gold, pine cones and dried orange slices.
The tree itself has been dug out with its roots and planted in a large pot. The British Royal Palace has already announced that the tree will later be planted elsewhere. According to proponents, real trees are preferable to fake ones because they are better for the environment.
Charles would also emphasize sustainability in his Christmas speech, British media write, but other themes would also be discussed.
