Despite significant losses, Russian troops continue their attempts to advance in the Donbass

Russian troops intend to capture Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk in order to create a springboard for cutting off the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region.

The Russian army intends to go beyond Izyum and capture the cities of Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk. This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain, published on May 4.

According to British intelligence, Russian troops deployed 22 battalion tactical groups near Izyum, trying to advance along the northern direction of Donbass.

“Despite attempts to break through the Ukrainian defenses and gain momentum, Russia most likely intends to go beyond Izyum and capture the cities of Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk,” the military believes.

The capture of these territories will strengthen the control of the Russian Federation in the northeast of Donbass and become a springboard for cutting off Ukrainian forces in the region.
