Fierce fighting is likely to take place on the outskirts of Kiev in the coming days, according to the British Ministry of Defense intelligence review published on Thursday on the situation on the Ukrainian front.
‘Russian forces continue to hold positions east and west of Kiev, although a limited number of units have been withdrawn. Fierce fighting is likely to take place in the suburbs in the coming days, ”said a report by British experts.
The British Ministry of Defense also says that despite Russia’s announcements to reduce military activity in Chernihiv, artillery shelling and rocket attacks on the city continue.
Heavy fighting continues in Mariupol, a major target for Russian troops, but the city center is still controlled by Ukrainian forces, the survey added.
In a statement on Wednesday, the British Ministry of Defense said that Russia’s announcement of a focus on “liberating” the Luhansk and Donetsk regions implicitly acknowledged its inability to sustain the attack in more than one significant direction.
