British intelligence: – A very risky maneuver

The Russian forces are continuing the fierce fighting in eastern Ukraine and have in the last 24 hours made a significant effort near Izium and Severodonetsk in an attempt to achieve a breakthrough against the cities of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.

This writes the British defense in his daily update on Twitter.

– The main goal of this axis is to surround Ukrainian forces in the “Joint Forces Operation Area”, and isolate them from support or reinforcements from units in the west of the country.

Trying to cross important river

British intelligence says Ukrainian forces have averted a major offensive against Russian forces trying to cross the Siversky Donets River in the Donbas region.

Several photos have documented several attacks along the river and indicate that Russia has lost important armored maneuvering elements and some deployed equipment from at least one tactical battalion group, as they tried to cross the river.

– Carrying out river crossings in a controversial environment is a very risky maneuver and clearly shows how much pressure the Russian commanders are to achieve progress in their operations in eastern Ukraine.

No significant progress

Despite a regrouping of forces in the eastern areas, British intelligence shows that Russian forces have not been able to make any significant progress.

This after the forces withdrew from Kyiv and nearby areas.

The last few weeks have been marked by long and hard battles against the important port city of Mariupol, where the Russian forces have occupied most of the city.

It is still claimed that there are a few civilians and around 1000 Ukrainian soldiers left, hiding in the Azovstal steelworks.
