British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley’s Visit to China Delayed Due to Qin Gang’s Absence

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley has canceled his visit to the People’s Republic of China at the end of July.

This is reported by the agency Bloombergciting their own informed sources. According to them, the reason for the cancellation of the visit was the long absence in the public space of the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Qin Gang.

“Qin Gang’s nearly month-long absence from the public space contributed to the delay of Cleverly’s previously anticipated visit to Beijing in late July,” the story reads.

The publication recalls that Qin Gang last appeared in public on June 25, when he met with officials from Russia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. At subsequent diplomatic meetings, he was replaced by the head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Wang Yi.

Since then, Qin Gang’s name has not been mentioned in the comments and transcripts of briefings by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A Chinese diplomatic spokesman initially explained the absence of the chief with health problems.

The agency also reports that although the British Foreign Office refuses to comment on this situation, the disappearance of Qin Gang is reflected in geopolitics. London and Beijing are currently considering new dates for James Cleverley’s visit to China.

As reported EADailyon the eve of James Cleverley addressed the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunaku and asked to leave him the post of head of the country’s Foreign Ministry and not appoint him as defense minister during the next reshuffle in the government.
