To find out exactly what was happening, the doctors performed a “genetic analysis”. It showed that the man had contracted an early variant of the virus in late 2020, which remained in his body for months. So it was one long contagion. The fact that humans have been infected for so long probably has everything to do with a weak immune system.
He had previously had a kidney transplant. His body was no longer strong enough to fight the virus.
When doctors found that the man still had an old variant of the corona, they gave him drugs that are no longer used because so many new variants have emerged. It worked and the man recovered after 411 days.
