LONDON – British cyclist Geraint Thomas will continue to race for Ineos Grenadiers in the next two years.
The management of the team announced that it has agreed with the thirty-seven-year-old Welshman to extend his contract by two years until the end of the 2025 season. The winner of the Tour de France from 2018 also indicated that he will end his career after the contract expires.
“Although they say: never say never, I have in my head that this is my last contract. But I know that I still have two great seasons left. And I wouldn’t continue in another team.” Thomas said. “This team understands me and, more importantly, knows how to achieve success. We are ambitious and have big goals.” he added.

With this year’s second place at the Gire d’Italia, where he lost the pink jersey until the penultimate day of the time trial, Thomas confirmed that he can still fight for great individual successes. At the same time, the role of a mentor for younger riders is not denied.
In the Grand Tours, he has shown the most balanced performances in the Tour de France in the past. After his premiership triumph in 2018, he added second place a year later, and finished third last year. He also collected successes on the track, in his collection he has Olympic gold from the team pursuit races from 2008 and 2012.
