British TV comedian Sean Lock, known for the comedy programs ‘8 out of 10 Cats’ on Channel 4 and ‘Have I Got News for You’ and ‘QI’ on the BBC, has died of cancer at age 58 . His agent confirmed this to BBC News on Wednesday.

Several well-known colleagues react to the news with reports. “One of the funniest, most influential comedians of our generation. A great man,” Ricky Gervais tweeted.

“Tragic news about Sean Lock today,” Jimmy Carr, host of 8 out of 10 Cats, which featured Lock for 18 seasons, wrote on Twitter. “I loved him. I am now watching his videos and laughing and crying. I will miss him so much.”
