In London, England, a number of passengers were seen taking off their pants and boarding the tube. The ‘Take off your pants and go to the subway’ event, which was suspended due to the spread of the new coronavirus (Corona 19) infection, has resumed.
According to the 8th Daily Mail (local time), the British citizens took off their pants and boarded the Elizabeth Ling train that day.
The passengers took off their pants and moved only in their underwear in the space inside the subway station or on the escalators.
The “Take off your pants and ride the subway” event started in New York in 2002 as a joke by an organization called “Improve Everywhere”, but has now spread all over the world and is held in more than 60 cities. It was suspended in 2020 due to Corona 19 but resumed this year.
In 2006, eight people who attended the event were arrested by the NYPD for disorderly conduct, but a New York court ruled it was not illegal to take off your pants and take the subway.
The rule of the event is to wear only underwear while wearing the same everyday clothes as usual. Participants take off their pants in designated areas. Even if you don’t wear pants, don’t be shy and act normal.
In the photos posted on various social networking services (SNS) such as Twitter, some of the event attendees couldn’t help but laugh. However, most of them were looking at the newspaper or cell phone with expressionless expressions.
