British army to help supply gas stations from Monday

According to the British government, the demand for fuel has stabilized in the past week and there is now more delivered across the board than sold. However, in many places there is still a shortage due to delivery problems.

The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA), which represents the interests of UK service stations, said yesterday that according to their members 26 percent of pumps are completely out of fuel. 27 percent have only one fuel type in stock. Reuters news agency reports that dozens of gas stations in London and the south of England alone have been forced to close their doors.

Due to the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, it is no longer possible for EU citizens to live and work visa-free in the UK. To address the problems, the British government has issued 10,500 temporary visas for foreign workers, for example to work as a truck driver. However, according to the British Chamber of Commerce, this measure is far from sufficient.
