The airline British Airways announced today the cancellation of all its flights between London and Tel Aviv until Wednesday due to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
“We have made the operational decision to suspend our flights to and from Tel Aviv until Wednesday 28 August. Safety remains our absolute priority.” an airline spokesman said.
Earlier today, the French airline Air France announced that it was suspending its flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut “until at least Monday, August 26”.
Given the situation, “today’s and tomorrow’s flights are cancelled”, a representative of the company pointed out, adding that the measure may be extended.
Air France had suspended its flights between Paris and Beirut from July 29 to August 15.
On its part the largest European airline Lufthansa announced on Friday that it was extending the suspension of its flights to Beirut until September 30 and until September 2 to Tel Aviv and Tehran, citing the risk of escalating conflicts in the region.
Beirut airport is still operating normally, although some companies, among them the Royal Jordanian Etihad Airwayshave canceled their flights.
