Today, the British national airline “British Airways” is returning to Riga, which will resume flights between Riga and London in the winter season, representatives of VAS “International Airport “Rīga”” informed LETA agency.
Airport representatives say that “British Airways” will operate flights to London Heathrow Airport three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
LETA already wrote that “British Airways” used to fly between London and Riga from 1997. They were discontinued in March 2007. The airline explained this decision by the fact that this route was not profitable.
It has already been announced that the turnover of the airport last year was 57.924 million euros, which is 82.3% more than in 2021, and the company also worked with a profit of 286,498 euros, as opposed to losses the year before.
Riga International Airport is the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic States.
