British Airways is suing the city of Chicago for damage to three Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Almost exactly a year ago, three British Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliners suffered engine damage from foreign objects at Chicago O’Hare Airport. The airline had to carry out extensive maintenance work on all six engines, which resulted in costs and flight cancellations. The airline has now filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago demanding more than $ 3 million in damages.

British Airways is suing the city of Chicago for $ 3.2 million (about £ 2.4 million), Simpleflying reports. The lawsuit alleges that three of the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners had to be withdrawn from service after suffering engine damage in Chicago O’Hare (ORD) between November 30 and December 1, 2020.

In the lawsuit, which was filed with an Illinois court, BA alleges that the engines of the three aircraft picked up debris as they crossed the runway, which was left after pavement renewal and expansion work on one of ORD’s terminals.
