On the morning of August 28, local time, a technical failure occurred in the British air traffic management system, and the UK once implemented air traffic flow restrictions. The technical issue has now been resolved, but flights from other European countries planning to return to, travel to or pass through British airspace have been severely affected.

British airports once implemented air traffic flow restrictions to ensure safety. Several airports in the UK, as well as airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet, have sent text messages to passengers about flight delays or cancellations.

According to British Airways, the largest airline in the UK, the company has 3,049 flights scheduled to depart from airports in the UK on the 28th, and 3,054 flights scheduled to arrive in the UK are affected to varying degrees. Some of the company’s flights were at risk of running out of fuel during the failure of the air traffic control system, and British Airways had to find alternate airports for these flights.

On the afternoon of the 28th local time, the failure of the British air traffic management system has been resolved. (making Jiang Lu)
